So, for my animation, I have chosen a story about a monster of a man who is brutal in every way. His name is Hel. His only desire is to be a god, but he doesn't mind killing anything that gets in his way. He is a brute, and a bit of an idiot but in this world this hasn't hindered him and nothing will untill he must face his only equal in Hell the Underworld!!!

The audience are instantly put upto date on Hel's situation in the intro by a crackly voiced narrator, who I intend to have sound like Mum'Ra from Thundercats. Why? It just sounds right in my head, Evil and old.

"It was foretold that when a mere moral of a man kills 5000 warriors, 500 giants and at least 50 new borns, the skys will turn to black and a new lord will arrive...a demon lord...a demon lord of Hell."

I want this film to be a slightly humerous adventure story, with undertones of a morbid nature. Finding the funnier side of the darker, morbid Sagas of Viking mythology; (from whence the story is loosely bassed around) It is a medieval, hack 'n' slash, adventure fantasy with humerous undertones. The humour is shown through the character Hel, and his reactions to the events that take place.

Child-like, tongue-in-cheek humour created by absurd reactions. Tom and Jerry, Ren & Stimpy say it best. The humour is generated by the absolute brutality of the character Hel and his reactions. The idea is to mock in a light hearted fashion the events andreactions of other more serious hero characters in the fantasy genre. Hel is the protagonist but is a brute who laughs in the face of danger and never thinks before his actions, like a child, but a child who is extriemly stong and Evil,. Unlike the usual (goody goody) hero charater.

This is why i have an image of Korgoth of Barbaria. Korgoth is how I imagine Hel. Hel is a simple warrior, like Korgoth: but unlike Korgoth (which only aired one episode) Hel has a detination; Hel has a need to be a god and be accepted by his father Loki the God of Mischief. In this dessolute world, his task is only achievable through absolute strength and brutality. Much like it was for Conan the barbarian, who was "born on a battle field." Gutz the Black Swordsman from the manga and animation Berserk has a similar story, but it is very, very dark and morbid, and is with out humour.

The images from Conan are great. I intend to include the corpse mounds but in a more extrieme manner; Instead of having a mound I will have a mountain that Hel is standing atop holding a head from his last victim. Panning from a snowy mountainass landscape accross and panning up the mountain to the top we see skulls and bodies scattered, its not untill we get to the peak where Hel is standing that we see that the mountaing is man made...literally! (Hel is standing atop many bodies)

As it pans up the narration starts...
"It was foretold that when a mere moral of a man kills 5000 warriors, 500 giants and at least 50 new borns, the skys will turn to black and a new lord will arrive...a demon lord...a demon lord of Hell."

I want my intro to be similar to the intro in Count Duckula. Why? As a child it was one of the only things that could hold my attention it was dark but funny.

Awesome it feels good to write about what i'm thinking about constantly...will post again shortly after I have done some more drawing.
